What's the difference between a bull dog and a hockey mom?
Lipstick!

I would describe myself as an Independent, so I feel no shame in saying that I am enthralled by Sarah Palin. Her speech last night was cutting, intelligent, well-delivered, and she drew from both her personal and political experience to make her points. Now, I know her speech was written by somebody else, who in all likelihood has written speeches for Bush and other Republicans with whom I'm not satisfied, but she felt authentic, and for the first time ever, I'm excited about what a Republican might be able to do. I've been excited about several Democrats before, but that's not surprising in a party known more for "shaking it up"...the Republicans have always struck me as too traditional, afraid of change, and clique-ish. I can't attribute any of those qualities to Palin!

On a side note: Did anybody else see when Palin's youngest daughter was holding her little brother, licked her hand, and then smoothed down the baby's hair? That was too cute.

One more thing: How dare the Democrats question her ability to be a mother of 5 and a vice president! When has anybody ever postulated something like that about a male politician?

Having no TV, I didn't get to see Palin's speech, so it's cool to get people's (not media's) impressions from it.

It irks me to no end that the question of whether or not she can work and be a mother has come up. Didn't we resolve this 30-40 years ago? Not every mother wants to do it, but yes, they have the ability :P

Even sillier, in my opinion, is the big deal that the VP has become. The democratic ticket got a "oh, that's nice, he chose a VP. Wait, what was his name again? Ok. Anyway, back to the platform/issues." Meanwhile, the only thing I've heard from the RNC was Palin Palin Palin! I heard a bit of Gulliani's speech 'cause I was tutoring a kid who had a TV while that was on, but no media coverage of, well, ANYTHING but Palin (as one local station calls her, the GILF (think MILF but older...)

I have to wonder, does anyone care what McCain had to say? Nobody's tellin' me what that was :P Palin is certainly very interesting, but uh, if the Republicans really wanted to wave a "we want a woman in the whitehouse" flag, why not put one up as the Presidential nominee. VPs almost seem like an afterthought in our nation - until there's a woman running.

I think people are just honestly excited about who she is, what she stands for, and yeah, also that she's a woman. I mean, she's a woman who can shoot and dress a moose! And beyond that, she has a GREAT record of reform in Alaska. So yeah, they're talking a lot about her, but they talked a lot about Biden for a few days too. Remember, he was announced earlier than she was. So this is her spotlight, and I expect some of it to die down in a few days, and then hopefully, people will be more focused on McCain/Obama instead of Palin/Obama. And by the way, I think it's great that the VPs are playing a bigger roll, at least for the Republicans! What better way to get things done than to work as a team? I think that this is one (possible) VP who won't sit idly by while the action is happening.

I think in some ways, Palin is more qualified than McCain. In a way, I think it's detrimental to the American people to have a career politician in office, especially after spending decades in public office.

Generally speaking, I consider her a breath of fresh air and wouldn't mind if McCain gets elected then croaks the day after he takes office, so we could have her as Pres for 4 years.

You know, I really agree. At least Palin has been the executive of first a town, then a state. What has Obama been the executive of?

While I was driving on my lunch hour just a little bit ago, I was listening to Outlaw Dave on 950am, and somebody called in and slammed Palin for drawing on her experience as a PTA member during last night's speech. In my opinion, she has the heart and spirit of a servant, and being a PTA member is just one example of that. Another example of that spirit is her putting the governor's jet on EBay after she won the Alaskan election. She thought it was "over the top" to have a luxury jet, and decided she would get rid of it. Seriously cool!
